La Grande-Motte
PRE-FALL 2026

It was Vincent Van Gogh who famously professed, “The whole future of art is to be found in the South of France.” Teeming with history, architecture and innumerable idyllic landscapes, the mélange of Mediterranean resort towns has long acted as a source of inspiration for creatives in all forms. Perhaps it’s not all surprising that we, too, can’t seem to stay away. This very southern coast shaped the spirit of our Pre-Fall Collection. So we returned to photograph the season’s campaign within French-Turkish architect Jean Balladur's utopian seaside city, La Grande-Motte.

The mesmerizing, modernist pyramids were built entirely from scratch in the ‘60s and ‘70s, conceived as a dream of leisure and rhythmic living. Visualizing a haven for those seeking respite from past and present, Balladur centered his designs on the Camargue’s greatest assets: sun and sea. The curved, dune-like structures were intentionally oriented so that every balcony and terrace indulges in a view of both elements. Car access is limited by paths that instead invite walking and biking. Over 30,000 trees were planted, not just for verdancy, but also to protect against the harshness of wind and salt. The most striking part of La Grande-Motte is not the distinctness of its architecture, but in the way those sharp, geometric lines and perforations seamlessly harmonize with nature. Sensations of freedom and ease are ever-present here; the concept of an endless summer feeling closer to reality than fantasy — a sentiment that echoes within our own sun-soaked palettes and diaphanous fabrications.
