Within Lake Varese’s quiet province of Barasso, an unexpected harmony of Neoclassical and Art Deco design took form in the late 1930s. Italian architect Tomaso Buzzi conceived Villa Necchi Campiglio as a retreat for the Industrialist family in which the residence was named after. He framed the home’s central courtyard with a square floor plan rich with bespoke woodwork and marble, creating symmetry and formality that lend classical appeal rather than rustic. Inside, modern, geometrical Deco elements have been executed with subtlety — think Buzzi’s signature diamond motifs tucked into the tiniest of trims.
